Camping can be a real blast! Whether its throwing some bags in the car and driving to your local KOA, or getting out a pack and hiking to your favorite spot, camping is a great way to escape the bustle of life, get out doors, and spend time with family.
I've been camping since I was a little kid, and I can't even tell you how glad I am for all the lessons I learned while out in the wild. I am especially grateful because many of those lessons apply directly to Emergency Preparedness.

Lighting a Fire
I feel like this is a little understood, but vitally important skill. We are not always going to have electricity and propane to cook our food and warm our homes. A fire can mean the difference between life or death. It will keep you from freezing to death, help you purify water, keep wild animals at bay, and provide comfort during a disaster. Lets go over some basic tips and tricks of fire starting.
