Welcome to our new blog here at Emergency Essentials®! We are very excited to start blogging about anything related to emergency preparedness. Some of our upcoming topics will include emergency preparedness, food storage, recipes, water storage, new product reviews, question and answer, a food storage calculator, etc. Our goal is to "Bring Preparedness to Life."
We welcome your input! We would like to grow our blog based on your interests. Please e-mail us at [email protected] with ideas, questions, experiences, reviews, recipes, or information.
This is great! Would like to see a list of items, in order of necessity, that someone on a very limited budget should have on hand. Maybe I could help someone out if they didn't think they could spare anything to go toward being prepared.

Thank you for setting this up. Like many others, I am interested in ideas and recipes to help use the supplies to avoid having to throw things out.

Thought I'd join the discussion and add my two cents.
I've been checking out my local thrift stores and found a terrific hikers backpack for $1 . . . filled it with 3 days supply of freezedried foods, dried fruit, power bars, etc.. Also found a small bag (probably a diaper bag) that I filled with medical supplies and toiletries then added a bit of small denomination cash into each. These will be the first two things I grab if I have to evacuate my home for any reason.

we buy our supplies in bulk through our church group. i found some of your products at walmart in the camping section. we tried them and were very good. just wonder if there will be more selections on this small scale. love your site. rosie in ky.

Being someone who has only been trying to get prepared the for the last year, and is still miles away from success, I have found it hard to find answers, now, we have a chance to share what we have learned and learn from the experts as well as people who are making mistakes and sharing those so we all don't have to learn we made a terrible mistaken when it is too late to correct.

What I would like to hear is more of personal experiences, they seem to be very informative, from recipes to emergency preparedness.
I have a lot of your products, and they are all great. Connie

I would like to see ideas and recipes on using stored items such as wheat, powdered milk, freeze dried veggies, butter powder, etc. I have bought these items but don't have enough ideas on how to use my open cans up in a timely manner. I would like to be able to use and rotate my storage. Also, I would like easy information on putting together 72 hour emergency kits since it can seem so overwhelming to me. Thank you and good luck with your new blog. I think it will be a great forum.

This is my first time blogging. I would like to know when and how to harvest seeds from non-hybrid vegetables? How to store them? I think this is going to be great!
Dora
I would like recipes for using veggies from the garden that uses less energy in case of power outage.
MerryAnne
This is a great idea for a blog! I'm especially interested in "novice gardening" and recipes using food storage items.
Ariel
I think it would be a great idea to post information about all the things we can do during the spring and summer months in preparation for the winter. Subjects on what to do with the food we grew using non-hybrid seeds. How to store some and how to retrieve the seeds. Also, because of the heat of summer, some advise on the keeping the foods we already have stored. How best to rotate, suggestions on where to keep our food away from the heat. The blog idea is a great place to share together! B Ariel Belle

I would like to know more about how to plan for eating what you have in order to replenish. We have a one year kit we bought in 2000, and it is good til 2017. Now we have to start eating through it to make room for fresh supplies.
Thanks!
Karen
This is inspiring for someone was feeling overwhelmed after a recent move to a new state. I didn't have room in our moving van for our food storage, so I had to leave it! I am ready to re-stock using Emergency Essentials. This blog will help me along.

Look like a great way to learn stuff to survive.

On another thought, you may want to consider setting the blog up on it's own domain using Wordpress or something like it. I started on blogger but realized there are advantages to your own domain.

Great to see your blog! I have my own on marketing at http://www.marketingvistas.com

Thank you for creating this blog. We need all the help we can get! I have lived in an area with severe winter storms in the winter and tornadoes in the summer, a different one with risk of hurricanes, and where I live now, we have had 4 ice storms over the years with power outages. With every weather emergency, I feel more confident and relaxed because each time I am better prepared. I will look forward to more tips!
