Textured Vegetable Protein
What is Textured Vegetable Protein? Textured Vegetable Protein made from soybeans. The oil is removed from the bean before it is ground into flour. After the flour is formed into the desired texture or size, it is flavored to become any number of imitation meat products, including bacon bits, meat granules, or even large pieces of sausage or chicken.
When cooked, Textured Vegetable Protein resembles ground beef or chicken. Most people have actually eaten Textured Vegetable Protein without knowing it. Many bacon bits that you use on salads and potatoes are made of Textured Vegetable Protein. It is also used by most convenience and fast food outlets as a meat extender.

When I first cooked up the batch of TVP Taco Mix I invited the family over. Fed them tacos. Everyone happy! I then asked "how did you like the tacos?" They looked nervous I told them what it was. Showed them the can. Had them smell it. Explained how easy it was to prepare. They were in! LOVED it. Asked me to order them a CASE of it!!! This was a hard sell because they were very skeptical of my food storage idea! Thanks Emergency Preparedness!

TVP was definitely one of the items I felt to put into my food storage early. It can be added to just about anything and can even be eaten straight from the can if necessary!!

Just made a taco casserole last night with half Taco TVP and half ground beef. The kids had no idea and thought it was great. I figure I can make my meat last at least twice as long with this stuff. It's amazing.

I was skeptical when I first heard about this product. But decided to give it a try. I made taco's with the beef flavored protein. Surprisingly I couldn't tell and no one at the table could tell. My family didn't believe me when I told them until I showed them the can
