Have you started your emergency preparedness efforts and realized that you need some additional skills to be as well-prepared as you want to be?
Emergency Essentials’ Preparedness Skills series will walk you through some of the basic skills you can develop to maximize your preparedness.
This month we’re talking about Canning and Preserving your own foods at home. This is a great skill to have if you’re interested in emergency preparedness—preparing your own foods can save you money and ensure that you have exactly the items you want in your storage.
Throughout the month we’ll talk about the following methods of preserving your foods at home:
-Canning
-Pickling
-Dehydrating
-Jamming and Jellying (okay, I know those aren’t words… we’ll talk about making jams and jellies)
Do you already use one or more of these methods? What are your tips?
If you’re new to preserving food at home, what do you want to learn?

Wish you could do a contest without using Twitter or Facebook. Don't have enough time or interest in either. Would love to participate in your contest because we enjoy your products. Hope you can make some changes for the next contest.
Thanks.

I don't want to use Facebook. Why is it a requirement for a giveaway. We should be able to enter as I'd love to win a canner like that. :(
FORDFAN
will no longer buy from this company since it is all about facebook
there are outher companies out there to buy your stuff from,
:(

Ditto on all the above comments. I don't believe or will ever be a facebook fan. We are customers just like your facebook fans. Maybe if we all pulled out as customers you would treat us equally. There are other companies out there providing the same products.

I agree I am not a facebooker either, must be some other way to enter! Here ! Here! on the self defense !!

I also don't do facebook. Maybe you could have facebook people come to your website, then everyone could partake in your contest on your website!

The most important prepper skill is self defense. A lot of people know that the Mormons practice food storage and their intention is when they get hungry, just go kill a Mormon and take their food. Weapons, ammo and skill with them will be critical for survival. Storage is worthless if you can't defend it.

I like all of you would like to have this set but, I have problems with facebook also. Just deleted my account with them…just so you know you can pick up most of the equipment at yard sales and if you watch local sales you can pick it up inexpensivley. Also check Craigs list in your area…my daughter just picked up 12 dozen ball and kerr quarts for $10.00.
I checkd them out and they are all useable! Just a few ideas for all that are interested.

This is like too many sites that require you to use or "like" them on facebook … I have avoided facebook and plan to continue

I got off Facebook over a year ago, after all kinds of viruses were being placed to the point they could hack your account.
They place all kinds of immoral stuff. I can only imagine they didn't like my posts on standing up for Christianity.
Never have canned any thing, but an older gentleman at church makes jams he passes out as Christmas gifts.
Maybe they'll add this site, other than just Facebook, if more leave comments on asking them to do so.
If you don't ask, you never know.
God Bless

You know that you are being tracked by big bro just for being on this site, don't you?! I don't do facebk either. EE needs to make another way for us non FB users to enter contests. Or maybe our money is not good enough!

I do not and will not participate in Face Book. Many advertisers waste their advertising investment by asking me to "like them" or do something else stupid on Face Book. Nor do I buy from goofy advertiser's using the Zombi B.S. I am a customer of Emergency Essentials not because of Face Book or any such thing. I suspect that most "Preppers" are more down-to-earth types who deal with and prepare for the realities of what lies ahead in this God forsaken country ruled by a new American Aristocracy and an Islamic dictator.

I have been canning pork, deer, hamburger meat and different kinds of meat.My husband and i have put up over one thousand jars of jellies and jams.We try to prepare enough for our extended families too.We have also been stocking up on extra coffee, and water and all differnt things we would need in case of an emergancy….i would love the canning set so i could put more food up….

maybe if we organized a class action suit to be included in to this and any future contests the EE folks would recognise we are customers too. it is insulting to be treated as lower class people because we value privacy.
Ted
Another vote for I don't use Facebook, but I do order from EE……..NO FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!

I wholeheartedly agree with the no Facebook comments. It seems there's a bunch of us who aren't into "social" networks like Facebook so we are excluded from give-a-ways and contests. I refuse to do Facebook as Facebook "owns" everything you post, including photos and I guard my privacy. I've never joined and never will. There is something empty about calculating all your "friends" and thinking that translates to relationships. I guess none of us anti-Facebook shoppers qualify for this contest. Oh well.

Non-Facebook user agrees. Difficult to worry about security when all your business is plastered all over the internet. I entered the email contests in the past. I would love to win the canning set but I won't do Facebook just to get some free stuff.
Unknown
me too. i agree. too bad, i could luse this set.

Count me in with the comments above. I ditched Facebook a few years ago and am NOT going back. Sadly, so many companies make it a requirement to win or even enter things.

JDM – I agree. I don't go along with more governement info gathering spots than I have to. I am hoping to learn to can myself. I have some vinegar, salt and even a few jars bought from a yard sale but I could really use this….but alas I refuse to do Facebook. Oh well. :-(
JMD
Gosh, I would love to win this but I do not do facebook. I have been buying extra canned goods, flour, sugar, salt, etc.
