Foil Beef Stew Recipe


Yield: four packets

stew beef or Emergency Essentials Freeze-Dried Roast Beef
1/2 C
Emergency Essentials Chopped Onions or 1 medium onion, chopped
3 C
Emergency Essentials or 3 potatoes, sliced or cubed
2 C
Emergency Essentials Carrot Slices or 2-3 carrots, sliced
1/2 C
Emergency Essentials Freeze-Dried Celery Pieces   
Emergency Essentials Iodized Salt
Emergency Essentials Mesh Black Pepper
Emergency Essentials Premium Garlic Powder
1/2 C
Emergency Essentials Tomato Powder, reconstituted or 1 can tomato soup
1 bay leaf


  1. Cut chunks of stew beef into smaller chunks for quicker cooking. Divide meat onto 4 pieces of buttered or sprayed foil. Sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chopped onion, celery, carrots, and potatoes to each packet.
  3. Fold the edges of the foil up around the meat and vegetables, but do not close.
  4. Mix tomato soup with ½ can water and add a sprinkle of garlic powder. Pour equal amounts over each packet. Add a bit of the bay leaf to each packet and seal.
  5. Cook 30 minutes in 400° F. oven or in your campfire. Open carefully and check for doneness. (Discard bay leaf before eating.)
