I would love to get some more recipes for food storage as well. WE have been using ours quite frequently as of late and I am craving some ways to prepare it to make it more interesting or to learn how to add it to some of my already favorite recipes.

I would like to see some articles about how to live off of our emergency supplies during times of economic problems like job layoffs, etc. Perhaps a month of recipes, (well-rounded menue) made with your storage items? That would be Awesome!!

I'd like to see more on what to do with older items of food storage and also on how long can different items be stored for? What are the best methods for food to last the longest? My family was given several #10 cans of food storage when a family moved away. We were told the cans were packed in a way I had not heard of before, not dry packed, but some other method. What should one do with very old food storage, especially if the items are not normally used in the household?

My biggest concern is how to live without electricity. Even with a generator, if a massive power outage occurs for a long time, diesel fuel would run out. I'm wondering what to do without electricity, long term.

I am leaving a comment. Please entry me to win the preparedness kit – looks like it will make a great secondary kit for my office.
Anyonechecking this site who is not Community Emergency Responce Team (CERT) trained please consider it. Check out http://www.citizencorps.gov/cert/ It is a FEMA program focused on preparedness. I thought it was the most helpful thing I could have done to get myself and my family prepared for any emergency.

This is going to be a great site. Good idea. I work in a 10-story building on the top floor, and there aren't many emergency preparations/plans set up. Whatever is "organized" in the event of an emergency is unbeknownst to me and a majority of my co-workers. What are some ER plans/preparations I could do for my office (of 10 persons), floor (about 20 persons total), and help the rest of my co-workers in the building (totallying about 1400 persons)?

I'd like your suggestions on where to begin in organizing my 72-hour kit and food storage. What's the MOST important thing(s) to have…that's where I'll start.

Would it be possible to provide a "flex payment plan" for larger or more expensive orders/items (i.e., the Ultimate Food Supply is quite expensive, etc.)? If so, it would be very helpful.

I would like to see a discussion on using food storage as well in every day cooking. We are using it quite a bit recently and I am craving some new recipes.

Now is a great time to get this blog going. I think things are going to get worse before they get better

I have always enjoyed your emphasis on information and reason, rather than fear and panic. The blog is wonderfully consistent with that traditional and most welcome approach to Emergency Preparedness.

I would like to learn how to plan a route out of town in an emergency. Something about if you should take highways/major roads or go with side streets etc.

I would like information on keeping storage safe from bugs. i am told bay leaves in the cabinets or spearment gum work well but don't know how valid this information is…. thanks for the great web site.

We have been purchasing items from you for some time and have been delighted with the quality. We also purchased some storage groupings for our kids.

Would be interested in discussing sprouting…

Love to learn more on using food storage (wheat, etc.), recipe's, and information on emergency kits, especially with little children. Maybe something on how to cook without electricity.
Thanks, Lauri

Wow, what a fantastic resource and to be able to link to such knowledge without having to 'leave' and come back. Thanks!

This could turn out to be a great resource for the survivalist/prepper community. Keep up the good post and I love free stuff. For purely selfish reason I suggest you make this a weekly or monthly thing :)

I would like to see something about a realistic list of supplies needed for a fam of 5, as well as possible methods for getting freezer off the power grid, such as realistic cost solar power or wind.

It is difficult to know what to do first. Should you buy a lot of food..buy a book…collect water.. plant a garden… plant seeds in the ground.

I would like to see more recipes using everyday foods (canned and fresh), and the implementation of freeze-dried foods into a normal diet. I know rotation is important, and I am trying to introduce freeze-dried foods into my family's diet. Keep up the good work!

I am excited about your blog! I know it will be great. I would like to see more info on different types of legumes, beans etc. We need a good source to obtain a large quantity at an affordable price.

Nice blog. Would like to learn more about fuel and fuel storage. (Winter heat)

One thing I've always wanted to know is how big-city apartment dwellers can obtain sufficient fresh water over the long term to rehydrate foods, and sufficient fuel to cook, especially given small storage spaces and rules (understandably) forbidding fuel storage in the living space. Not everyone has access to a patch of dirt to dig in.

I LOVE THE BLOG! I WOULD LOVE TO READ ABOUT HOW TO PRESERVE GARDEN VEGETABLES. I DON'T THINK MANY PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE INTENSE PROCESS OF FREEZE-DRIED FOODS EITHER, AND INFORMATION ON THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL IN GETTING THE WORD OUT SO THE PRODUCTS ARE MORE APPRECIATED.

I'm still relatively new to the Mormon church, and thus new to the preparedness concept. I'm a single woman, unemployed at the moment, and I'm interested in how to get started "being prepared" on a very tight budget. Thanks!

I'm very new to the disaster preparedness idea. The book 'One Second After' has really made me think. I've had a garden for a couple of years now, but now own an old farm house that has a cellar. I just want to learn how to store what I grow and what items I should stock up on to supplement that. I know how to can some things and freeze others, but in the event of power failure, the frozen items won't last that long….

I would like to see tasty recipes that use food storage items. I would like to rotate my food supply better and use what I have before it spoils and I have ti discard it.

I would like to see a couple of things.
First, a topic on expanding the basic survival supplies from 3 days, to 10, to longer.

Second, a string on what to do other than put supplies aside BEFORE you are in an emergency situation – Is your dentistry up to snuff, are you fit enough to walk 5 miles with a pack, do you actually know how to use that radio… things like that.

I read an article in Hobby Farms magazine to buy seeds from the baker seed company or seed savers exchange. I bought some from seed savers exchange which are good, but I think I might buy the large can of seeds from the be prepared site. I want some to last for many years for security…

I'd like to see pieces on practical employment of gear—the time to find out how to employ a piece of equipment is long before you need it!

Nice blog you've got here; good luck with it.
