Boston Baked Beans Recipe

1 lb. (about 2 cups)
Emergency Essentials Small White (Navy) Beans
1/3 C
Bay Leaf
1/4 C
Packed Emergency Essentials Brown Sugar
6 Strips
Yoders’ Canned Bacon, diced
1 Tsp
Dry Mustard
1/4 C
Emergency Essentials Dehydrated Onions, reconstituted
1 1/2 Tsp
Emergency Essentials Iodized Salt
1/4 Tsp
Emergency Essentials Mesh Black Pepper


  1. Wash and soak beans overnight in 6 cups water.
  2. Next day, add bay leaf and bring to a boil. Simmer 10 minutes, and then drain beans through a colander into a large bowl, reserving the liquid.
  3. Put beans in 2½-quart bean pot or flat-bottomed Dutch oven.
  4. Add other ingredients and 2 cups reserved liquid.
  5. Cover and bake at 300° F. for one hour.
  6. Check liquid level and add some of the reserved bean liquid.
  7. Cover, bake another hour, and check again.
  8. Repeat until beans are tender.
  9. Cook ½ hour more, increasing heat to 350° F to achieve thick, syrupy sauce.
