Wrote a pre-blog note to you be4 on my accolades. what I'd like to see is more detail about storage life and variables related to this. Customers are in different locales and there are plus and minus factors that influence best choices such as MRE's vs. freeze or dehydrated options. janet in AZ

One thing I started doing since Katrina is vacum packing a two week supply on the medication I am currently taking. It has given me a piece of mind knowing that i will have access to my maintenance medication.

Great Blog! I would like some more recepies for sturdy working man type meals made from storage items. Love your products. Order regularly. Am also a Group leader.
Might I suggest that your readers also check out the CERT program through their local fire department to help them feel more prepared to take care of themselves and others in an emergency.

I feel it would be extremely beneficial if there could be a short series of articles produced that would suggest (offer a plan) how a Three-Day Kit could be prepared, from a weekly or monthly budgetary perspective, such that the expense of doing so could be spread out over a short period of time, yet in such a manner as to accomplish the goal as quick as possible. Then, and more importantly, how a Family (for example a Family of 4), could establish a weekly or monthly budget to puchase a one-year supply of food, etc. for long-term storage. The idea being that purchases could be made over time, say over a 6 to 12 month period, and that at the end of that time period, a complete one-year inventory could be in place to provide comfort and support to the family, while not creating such a large one-time financial burden. In summary, prepare a purchase plan summary budget of the essential foods, that helps a family achieve the goal of a one-year supply, with the costs spread out over a reasonable period of time. Thoughts?

I would like more info on square foot gardening and how you harvest the seeds for later planting. Maybe some plans or how to's on buiding a raised garden.

I would love to find out how to prepare for an emergency (weather or other) with young kids, how to keep them calm and happy even if you had to travel to a safe place and the best way to do that if it's on foot. As Huntingoat said, I would also like to see something about a realistic list of supplies AND seeds for a family of five, and living comfortably off grid, even if this is links and info on books to read. I LOVE to read!
Dianne
Please discuss the range of temperatures that foods may be stored. Can they be stored in an unairconditioned space? What about freezing? Thanks.

For those of us who might be planning to evacuate the inner cities in the event of TSHTF to avaoid being in harms way…I would like to see some discussion regarding the moving from city to country and the problems that could entail. Many country folk might get bent outta shape with alot of survivialist types flooding into the country spaces and how would we get along and make arrangements with the country brethren to allow us to stay on their lands or pass thru their property etc etc.

Thanks! I love the site

Are there any books or classes that could help us be prepared in the event of an emercency? We are currently growing a garden and I am learning to can. I know there is more we can do especially as it relates to water. Can we store water? If so, for how long?

I misread the rules,, my wish would be to see book discussions involving your selections and wild food gathering.

I would like to hear more for being prepared for children in the event of an emergency, as well as for those with special diet restrictions (ie. lactose intolerance, bean intolerance, GERDS).
I also live in an area where we have many young families that are students, and don't have much space to store food (plus they will be moving in 2-5 years). I'd love suggestions on realistic amounts for them to store to where they won't be moving TONS of food storage along with them, but still have the basics of preparedness covered.
Nancy Sigerson
I would love to hear from others on how they have been able to incorporate the various flavors of TVP into their recipes.
