We have a highly allergic 5 yr. old…deathly allergic to all dairy (goat's milk, too) and all nuts. He drinks oat milk (his favorite) and rice milk and sometimes soy — but doesn't care for it much. It's very difficult to find everyday food and have yet to discover an easy emergency food such as high protein bars or powdered oat milk, etc. to store for him in case the need arises. If you could discuss this topic, that would be very helpful. Thank you!
Katherine
I would like articles on making things like dehydrators yourself.

How about more info on water storage? Are we supposed to put anything in our 55 gallon drum of water when it is being stored? How often should we change the water? —sara

I am very excited about this board. I am learning so much from Emergency Essentials. I would like to discuss how to make evacuation plans for large families. Thanks.

I would like to see discussion on how we can become more self sufficient and prepare for problems that this economic situation may bring on. This is an urgent, relevent and immediate need for many folks. So many people are losing their jobs or taking major pay cuts. Discussion on how to feed their families through self sufficiency and thrift is a pressing issue.
Emily
Glad you have a blog! Excited to see what comes! Thanks for the giveaway!

Most of all, I'd like to see hints on how to avoid mistakes or nip problems in the bud that those of us used to modern civilization wouldn't know. I've read several books at this point, but anything that will help me put the information into practice and avoid beginner's mistakes would be great.
Simple recipes for foods prepared with freeze-dried ingredients, or tricks for integrating freeze-foods into common recipes would be great. Or how to fake one ingredient that you don't have by combining or modifying ingredients that you do have?
My family eats very little bread and baked goods — we eat tons of barley, buckwheat, rice, millet, etc. If I'm trying to figure out a year's worth of food, do I merely substitute the same amount of other grains for the wheat? Or is there a formula to adjust for the fact that I'm not using the other grain to make bread?
Also, tips on anything survival related — food storage, water storage, using various tools in their non-electric form, living without electricity in general.
For example, what would a post-disaster day look like, from sunrise to sunset? What non-obvious things would a survivor be doing that the rest of us not think of until not doing them created problems?
What habits/tasks could I integrate into my daily routine now that would make the transition to living without electricity easier in the future?
How can a home in a hot, humid area be modified to make life with electricity (especially air conditioning and refrigeration) more bearable?
What adaptations should be made to a home that doesn't have a basement for cooler food storage?

I'd love a discussion about collecting rain water. I'd like to collect and use rain water for keeping my garden and container plants watered. I need ideas and suggestions!

I'd like to hear about actual recipes to use food storage. Especially the stuff that doesn't rotate into our average diet: whole wheat especially! Also any tips about solar ovens and cooking with them. Thanks!

I think it would be very interesting to hear from people who lived in the areas where there have been hurricanes in recent years—what the "holes" were in their areas of preparedness.

I would love suggestions for preparing for a smaller family. (2 adults, 1 Child) Sometimes the big #10 cans seem too large to be practical for our family. I would hate to waste resources because they spoiled before we could use the whole opened can.

Please discuss the pros and cons of different types of grain mills.

Thanks for all the insights! I'm new to emergency preparations and enjoy learning through your site.

I have been thinking of storing a years worth of food, "just in case." I was skeptical about having to eat emergency food in a crisis. I decided to try some of the individually packaged meals first to see if I liked them. Wow, was I impressed. They taste great. I only had to eat a few package. I was sold and bought a years supply. Blog – great idea! I would love to see you add recipes that kids would eat that are made from ingredients from your store. (meal items as well as some snack items)
Thanks!

I've order from you a number of times and have always been pleased with the quality. But, so far, I've always avoided buying any of preprepared meals (not individual foods, but dinner entrees and such) because I'm on a sodium restricted diet and am concerned that the prepared dinners (e.g. beef stew) will have a lot of salt in them. I'd like to know which of your prepared dinners would be recommended for a low sodium diet.
Lynn
Is it possible to create food storage items with less sodium, please?
Kylene
This is great. I'm excited about this new blog and look forward to reading your tips.

Please talk about what should be included in a First Aid kit for families and pets. Love the new site.

I love this site! I am always looking for ways to be prepared for when we do have an emergency. Just like the prophets say to have an emergency kit. Hopefully I win this!

Forgot to add that I am interested in learning to use my whole wheat stores and what I need to store for emergency situations. Also, like to see more samples of the foods we can store. I know they are supposed to be great, but sure wish I could try them for a low price.

I would like to see topics relating to medical care and preparedness. It's hard to stock up on prescription medications that might be vital to one's life!

I'd love to see some information on how to establish you food storage in an organized manner. Many people cannot afford to buy a years supply of food all at once. It would be valuable to everyone if there was a monthly schedule we could follow as we accumulate our storage.

how about a topic on being prepared when the family just may be scattered all over! like at differnt schools, jobs, and mom may be at the temple – an hour away…then what!?

I have been interested for some time in being prepared if something happened. The delivery system collapsing in the wake of a real bad pandemic had me ready, but after checking out the reality of what would happen with an EMP and Kim Jong Nutcase's antics along with other fanatics ill wishes has made me get in gear. Thanks for making it much, much easier with your web site and products
