I have eaten Yoders Bacon that was 14 years old. Tasted just like it did the first month. It’s 2024 and my cans are 2010-2017. I’ve eaten pull tab spam that was 10 years old also with no bad affects. I’ve got cases of canned HOT DOGS TOO! But have not opened those 12 year dogs up!

I have a can of yoders bacon unopened given to me. Doesn’t have an expiration date on it. How do I find out if too old to eat without opening?

Jenny- Yoders canned bacon is just bacon, and would be delicious in any setting you would use bacon. it is just strips of bacon, in a can.

Could anyone tell me how Yoders canned bacon would be in a pot of peas or beans? I usually add ham (love that pork fat), but how would this be in an emergency?

I cannot tell you how much my family LOVES this bacon!! I thought when I saw that tiny can that it would be a total waste! BUT, was I ever surprised! There is about the equivalent of 3 packs of bacon in that tiny can! And it cooks up perfectly!!
And, for D in MS, it IS well worth it! It was perfect for my family of 6!! Now, there are 4 of us still home, and it is still perfect! I cook for breakfast, then we have BLTs for lunch. Super YUMMY!! Also, for power outage, I think you cook it up dry enough to keep like any dehydrated foods or bacon bits, so definitely give it a try!
I also have to add that I can my own bacon, but YODER'S has perfected the art of canning bacon! I definitely need at LEAST 52 cans put up in storage for my year's supply of food (and this would only allow 1 can per week). WELL WORTH THE COST!!

Some reviews of this product on the web say it's "revolting", "discusting", etc. Don't believe it! I bought a single can to test, and boy was I surprised!. It's GOOD! It is almost identical to the pre-cooked bacon from the store. I just popped 4 slices in the micro for 20 seconds and it was great! If you like pre-cooked bacon from the store, you WILL like this. I am back buying a case.

The item description says no refridgeration required after opening.

Thanks for the reply.
It's a shame it's not worth it to stock this product for power-outage situations unless you're feeding a large, hungry crowd.
I simply cannot imagine even four people eating 50 slices of bacon at a sitting. It would surely make you sick. I wish the product came in a smaller size.

Although this bacon has a shelf-life of 10 years, it needs to be treated like any other cooked meat product once you have opened a can.

Any idea about storage after opening? Obviously refrigeration would be best, but is it required? In a power outage, is it necessary to consume 50 slices immediately (!) in order to avoid spoilage?
Thanks

Yoder's bacon is seriously good! I have a case put away, and may order another. It would add a lot of flavor to some otherwise-bland storage food.

I agree with the customer reviews, this stuff is really good. I like the fact that we can have great tasting bacon without the greasy mess to clean up.
