Best in the world

I have owned this filter for over 20 years and have used it many times. It is, bar none, the best portable water filter in the world. Takes a bit of muscle to work it, and a bit of time--maybe a minute to produce a full glass of water, but what comes out is surgically pure water. While living in Cambodia, caught a case of "pink eye". Simply rinsing the eye with water from the filter cured the disease.

The filter (called a candle in the instructions) is re-usable and can be cleaned even in muddy water (discard the first glass) and has silver iodide to kill protozoa.

What more could you want?

While we haven't seen a claim that the silver impregnated inside the ceramic will kill protozoa, the silver does have a bacteriostatic effect to kill the bacteria that were stopped at the filter wall during treatment. Not many filters can say that.}

Best water filter in the world!

The Katadyn Pocket water filter is the best portable water filter in the world! No filters to buy. A must have for an emergency kit/72 hour bag. You get what you pay for, this filter is well made, not a cheap plastic filter that breaks when you need it most. Every camper/hiker should own one of thees filters. Clean fresh water from any source.

Incredible survival tool. I used it when traveling all over in east Africa for over 5 years. NEVER got sick from the water and NEVER had a failure of the product. Easy to use and very easy to clean.
