Tomato Sauce Leather Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

1 Jar of non-chunky Tomato Sauce

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Buy a jar of non-chunky tomato sauce (or make your own sauce). If you do have a jar of chunky sauce, run it through a blender until it reaches a smooth-like consistency.
  2. Spread the sauce thinly onto your dehydrator trays covered with non-stick Paraflexx sheets, or parchment paper, or fruit-roll sheets. Pour about eight fluid ounces of sauce onto each tray and spread it evenly to the edges.
  3. Dry at 135 for six to eight hours
  4. After five hours, flip the tomato leather over in the dehydrator. The sauce should be dry enough so that you can peel it off and flip it over for the rest of the drying time. Remove the non-stick sheets so that both sides of the leather are exposed to hot air.
  5. You'll know your tomato sauce leather is done when it's leathery and dry to the touch.
  6. Let the leather cool and tear into pieces. Store it in a jar with a tight-fitting lid.
