Caramel Apple Bars Recipe

All-Purpose Flour
2 C
Quick Cooking Oats
1 1/2 C
Packed Brown Sugar
1 tsp
Baking Soda
1 1/4 C
Butter or Margarine
1 1/2 C
Caramel Ice Cream Topping
1/2 C
All-Purpose Flour
2 C
Freeze Dried Apples (Reconstituted)
1/2 C
Chopped Walnuts or Pecans


1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 15" x 10" x 1" pan.

2. In a small pan, over low heat, melt butter or margarine. In large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, 2 cups quick cooking oats, brown sugar, baking soda and melted butter. Mix until crumbly. Press half of mixture into greased pan. Set aside test. Bake for 8 minutes.

3. In a small pan, over medium heat, combine caramel topping and 1/2 cup flour. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Boil 2-3 minutes, while still stirring, until slightly thickened. Spread apple dices and nuts into baked crust. Pour hot caramel mixture over apples and nuts. Sprinkle reserves crumbly mixture evenly over top.

4. Return pan to oven. Bake 20-25 minutes. Cook completely in pan. Cut into bars.
