Would buy again
As a family, we just tried an MRE that was packed in our 72 hour kit several years ago, and this was one of the items. Even a few years past its recommended shelf life, this smelled, and tasted fine. Everyone was willing to try it, and some of the kids asked for more. The apples were soft but held their shape. The color was a darker brown than we were expecting, but perhaps that is from age. The apples were more appealing to me than the sauce they were swimming in. All in all, I imagine this would be a tasty treat to have in an emergency, and I plan to buy more to replenish what we ate.

MRE is the acronym for Meals-Ready-to-Eat. These pouch meals were originally designed for our soldiers in the U.S. Military. These dishes are precooked and can be eaten cold or heated. Great attention goes into developing the recipes for MRE’s.
