Pretty Good

We compared these against Mainstay 1200 and Datrex 2400.

For my family of four, including two young girls, S.O.S. was the favorite.

* Best tasting - stronger coconut flavor than the Datrex, and a lot sweeter. These are more like a cookie than a biscuit.
* Individual servings are easy to open. The inner cellophane wrapper is easy for a 6-year-old to remove
* Less crumbly. You don't have to be as careful with these as with the Datrex to prevent waste. If you need to break a single portion in half, you will need to exercise some care, but you probably won't waste much.
* Sugary - they have the most sugar of the three tested. Very kid-friendly.

* Sugary - over three days, the sweetness would be overwhelming. Could also be a concern for diabetics ( 6 times the sugar of the other brands, if I recall correctly)
* Large portion size (400 Cal). They can be broken for distributing to family members, but you must exercise care.
* Extremely firm - those with sensitive teeth will find these uncomfortable to bite. That said, my wife chose these as her favorite, despite her sensitivity - she bites them with her molars.

Ultimately, these were the family favorite (3 first place votes, and 1 second place). Because of the sweetness, we will not rely exclusively on these.

{Response from Emergency Essentials - thanks for the detailed review Nick! Regarding the sugar content, they are actually pretty close. There are 53 g of carbs per a 400 calories bar on SOS, 54 g of carbe for two 200 calorie bars for the Datrex brand, and 46 g of carbs for a 400 calorie bar on Mainstay.}
