November Sky

I tested mine out in a mostly sunny, November sky with temps in the high-20s. The sun isn't exactly high in the sky this time of year, but I still managed to get the oven up to 215 degrees within 15 minutes and I cooked fajita chicken meat in one pot, and seasoned potatoes in the other. I am not sure when they were actually done as I didn't want to open the cover and let the heat out, but after about three hours I pulled the pots out and ate.

I frequently camp at places that have no electricity and have seasonal fire bans--making this a very valuable addition to those trips.

{Response from Emergency Essentials - Thanks Japheaux. Most foods cook in 2-3 hours with the Sport Solar Oven, and even if left in for too long on accident, the foods cook at temperatures that make burning the food almost impossible. We appreciate your taking the time to leave a review.}

Best Investment!

We have made pork roast, beef roast, ribs, and whole chickens in this as well as various vegetable and potato dishes and they ALWAYS come out cut it with a fork tender. I even whipped up spaghetti sauce in the kitchen and transferred it to the solar oven to simmer all day with no need to stir or worry that the sauce would become burnt on the bottom, It was fantastic, sauce was excellent and I wasn't tied to the house all day to watch it. We put our meals out in the morning and just take off. One thing to do though the first time is to map out where your tree shadows are throughout the day so you know the best place to put your oven without need to turn it to chase the sun. You won't regret this purchase, it keeps the kitchen cool too. We're in AZ for the summer and this is really keeping the heat out of the RV!

First let me make it abundantly clear, I am very happy with this solar oven. I have n cooked in this one yet. It arrived on a cloudy, with rain expected, day.
But I have a 'homemade' one, so I know this one will be more efficient, easier to use etc.
My 'homemade' one is so heavy, it has to be put on a wagon(by 2 men) with wheels so I can turn it as I need to get the most of the Sun, that's how heavy it is. It is not nearly as efficient as it could be.
This SOS solar one is AWESOME! Even with the pots in it, I can easily maneuver it where ever I want it. I can cook or bake in it. In fact I would say it's 'light' to carry.
Even with both pots full it will not be a problem to carry. I am impressed with that. I am 55 now and these things matter. It does come with the 2 pots and lids, thermometer, wapi, reflector panels, instructions, lots of helpful information, LOTs of recipes and ideas, names of books for other solar cooking recipe books, other info for solar cooking, stoves, and 'appliances' so to speak, and more. I have one little itty bitty exception to make.
It has nothing to do with this site, I'm sure it's a manufacturing thing, they may not even be aware of. The little black 'thingy's' that are supposed to keep the reflector panels from separating (no, it's not to keep them held together), several were broken.
It's not really a problem, but when you buy something new, you don't expect to do 'repairs' on it right then. It was very easy to remedy. I used twist tie type wire (cheap anywhere) to loosely wire the reflector panels so they are still foldable, and stand up correctly. I suppose you could actually use twist ties from bread bags since it won't be used in the rain. With all that is included, and compared to homemade solar cookers, turkey bags,
black high temperature grill paint, or extremely heavy homemade solar ovens, HANDS DOWN THIS ONE IS THE WINNER. Save yourself some grief and just buy this outfit. I tried going the cheap route

I LOVE this Product

I've been using it all summer and love it. I've cooked meat (to-die-for pot roast); beer bread; vegetables; fish; shrimp, chocolate cake, and ribs. After eating a "solar" dinner my visiting sister-in-law asked my brother .."are we going to get one of these?". He responded.. "are you kidding? We're going to get it just to cook CORN!" You cannot imagine how good corn on the cob tastes coming out of this oven!

solar oven

I've had the Sport Solar Oven for over a year. We get a lot of sunny days and it works great. It's so convenient for all types of cooking. It will even warm a meal up on a cloudy day at the beach!

Additional Info
What is the WAPI? It is a water pasteurization indicator. This little indicator can be placed inside a container of possibly contaminated water and then put into the Sport Solar Oven. You can now pasteurize the water to make it safe for drinking – killing ALL harmful waterborne pathogens: bacteria, viruses, cysts and spores. Complete instructions are listed in the Sport Solar Oven Manual.
Please note: Pasteurization will NOT eliminate chemical toxins or non-biological impurities.
The reflectors are designed for areas far from the tropics when the solar oven competes with cold air temperatures and a lower angle of the sun. During the summer when temperatures rise and the sun is high in the sky you won’t need to use your reflectors. You should not let your oven rise to temperatures above 300 F. High temperatures may result in damage to your oven.
