shrimp, cooked and shelled
1/2 C
Emergency Essentials Chopped Onions
1/2 C
Emergency Essentials Green Bell Pepper Dices
1/2 C
Emergency Essentials Celery Slices
1 tsp
Emergency Essentials Minced Garlic
2 tbsp
Olive Oil
Small Cans Tomato Sauces or 2 C Sauce made from Emergency Essentials Tomato Powder
Bay Leaves
1-2 tsp
Hot Pepper Sauce such as Tobasco brand
4 C
hot cooked Emergency Essentials Instant White Rice


  1. Reconstitute onions, peppers, and celery. Sauté in olive oil until just tender.
  2. Add garlic, stir well, and add tomato sauce, bay leaves, and 1-2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce.
  3. Add prepared shrimp, heat through and serve over hot cooked rice.


This type of tomato-based creole sauce is also excellent as a topping for any baked or steamed fish or for chicken. A similar sauce is often used for Cajun Crawfish Etouffée, used to smother the prepared crawfish tails, although some chefs prefer to leave out the tomato sauce and have a butter and flour-based sauce.
