First MRE Supper

All right! I just had my first MRE supper. I have a fair pantry of freeze dried items for when the 'situation' goes down, lol, and decided to add MREs. MREs are perfect for the 72 hour kit/bug out bag. Tonight's menu was chicken breast and refried beans. I boiled the pouches for three minutes and both were very hot. The refried beans were quite good. Nice and thick but not pasty at all. There are pieces of diced green chili peppers that add a nice touch. I have had worse tasting beans out of a can. The chicken breast is a patty of 'processed' chicken, but it is very firm. Not mushy at all. The only reason I did not 5 star it was the smoke flavor was a bit 'dark' for my personal taste. But in a pinch when the chips are down and you have the miss-meal-cramps...well, you get the picture. I had a bit of cottage cheese and a piece of garlic toast with them, but had I not; the portions are fairly stout. Again, if it's this or nothing, I'll take the MREs. Next day or two I'll review the Cheese Tortellini; Beef Patty; Mexican Macaroni; Mexican Rice; Mashed Potatoes and Shredded Potatoes with Bacon.
