Doesn't taste like raspberries

These were so tart it was like trying to eat a lemon. It didn't taste like raspberry at all. I'm a newcomer to the world of food prepping and this was my first taste of freeze dried raspberries so I don't know if it was just an unusual batch, but I would absolutely not recommend these for snacking. (Dry or after soaking made no difference.) On the other hand they plumped up beautifully in water and retained their form very well so for baking (scones or muffins, etc) they could do very well. For that reason I gave them two stars instead of one.

{Response from Emergency Essentials - Thanks for your review. We are surprised to hear that your raspberries were so unusually tart. One advantage of our freeze dried raspberries is that we do not add any additives or preservatives including sugar. Because they are natural, they should taste just like a frozen or fresh raspberry which can vary in its sweetness. We want you to be pleased with every product you purchase from us. Anytime a product fails to meet up to your expectation, please call us. We will make it right with you.}

Great Snack

These are great for topping cereal, adding to trail mixes or just snacking. Even the crumbs and powder at the bottom of the can are useful: I dried some pears, and the slices came out pretty bland. I tossed the pear slices with the raspberry powder and wow!--that really woke up the flavor in my dried pears.

These are great re-hydrated in cold milk on cereal. But beware they are really bitter not re-hydrated,but still good.

These raspberries have incredible, rich flavor and are great in cereal or just as a snack. I don't try to rehydrate them but I imagine it wouldn't go well (typically doesn't unless you spray them). Put a few into a gallon of water in your fridge for a nice, caffeine free alternative to tea!
