Powdered Cheese ...hhmmm

I didn't read the description very well; I was expecting something that resembled cheese. BUT, we have added it to regular Mac & Cheese and it makes it fantastically extra cheesy! Have also used it on various other pasta with other ingredients - works well. I need to try a broccoli cheese soup (in place of Velveeta)

{Response from Emergency Essentials - Thanks for your comment Jessica! If interested, we have freeze-dried shreeded cheeses in Cheddar, Mozzarella, Colby, and Monterey Jack in large and small cans. We've made pizza with the Mozzarella cheese and it melts and everything. We're sure you'd love those too}

Good to have

I just opened the one can I had for a few months, and used it to make mac and cheese to use up a couple opened boxes of different macaroni shapes. What I like about this powder is that you can use it in a pinch, and as much or little as you want. I made a light buttery/cheese sauce for the mac. Anyone who likes the Kraft,etc. should purchase this...you will save money and have it for a while. Taste real good.

There is SO MUCH in this can ! ! ! !

First of all, this can has a whopping 66oz. of powder that makes 37 cups (more than 2 gallons) of cheese sauce. The price they ask is a BARGAIN. I agree it is mild, BUT NOT FLAVORLESS. This is a perfect BASE to be SPICED any way to match the mood of your tastebuds. I have only tried this on eggs and vegetables but can't wait to do the nachos, Mac & Cheese, noodle casseroles, baked potatoes.........So much to eat, So little time.

My favorite!!

This is a new staple in my pantry. I will never go back to store bought Mac-n-cheese. Just add a little salt and it will taste just like it. I mix it with hot sauce for queso. Great for hot dogs and nachos, broccoli, etc. Has a great flavor and can easily be seasoned if you want more of a kick. I love having this to entertain unexpected crowds of kids.

Great in Casseroles

We love this Cheese blend and do not find it too mild for our tastes. I especially like it to add to casseroles and hot dishes. Adding this blend to a plain White Sauce recipe makes a great sauce for anything: vegetables, baked potatoes, etc. It is convenient and also does not cake up like a competitor's Cheese Sauce Mix that we have used.

cheese blend is awesome,i mix it with hot water and a wire whisk and it blends smooth and creamy. I like making the cheese spread from it too. My kids and grandkids love it

kids would like it

This cheese blend is just that a blend and as such the taste is rather mild; pleasant enough, so that kids would most likely enjoy it. but to an adult taste, this could be, as it was to us, rather bland. we had bought before, dried chedar cheese...which was full bodied and flavorful. This blend has a fair amount of milder white-ish cheese, perhaps provalone or mazzerala (sp); which by their nature are relatively tasteless. the product when reconstituted really needed to be power blended to get rid of lumps. in the end after that it was creamy, we used milk, had a nice consistency and texture and decent color.
i was hopeing that the flavor would be more intense, along the lines of chedar; but that certainly was not the case. our first use was as mac and cheese; plesant but lacking in flavor. over popcorn it was again, pleasant but mildish. kids will take to this mild tatses i would think. we will add real chedar when we want to have a more robust flavor. we will use it more as a base to which other things will be added to pump up flavor. I would considering the lack of flavor buy it again, but would like to see chedar added to the selection, that i would buy if it were anything like the dehydrated cheddar we had experienced.

Cheese Blend Is Best

Just got this cheese and to say it like my kids do. This is better than the stuff that comes with the store mac and cheese (in a box)... It is so much better to cook with and the flavor is great. Mix it in a pasta salad and you don't have to worry about adding cube cheese. I am going to order more of this great cheese blend.
