Tastes Good

These were one of our favorites (flavor wise) of the 3 different food bars we ordered. They have a yummy lemon flavor, and are like a huge square cookie. The downside, is that they are full of fat, and have a really crummy ingredient list. Not to mention that they are NOT individually wrapped, and the vacuum seal broke on these really easily too. So we needed to use them up right away. They are extremely filling, so no seconds are necessary with these. The kids gobbled these up and thought they were wonderful.
Emergency Essentials Response:
Thanks for your review. Calorie Food Bars are specifically designed to provide a quick source of energy (calories) in an emergency situation. They are not ideal for long-term use, but rather for use in an emergency or situation in which energy and nutrients is needed immediately. They are excellent for emergency kits because of their high calorie content, non-thirst provoking ingredients and compact packaging. We are glad to hear you are happy with their flavor.

Ocean Ditch Bag
Reviewed By:

My husband is a commercial fisherman in New England and I wanted to create a ditch bag for him in case anything ever goes poorly at sea and he has to jump ship. He hates coconut and sweets, so it was a difficult task as most of the emergency food bars fall into that category. These, however, are neither sickly sweet nor coconut flavored. Score!
They have a lemon flavor, which is incredibly light, and while they are not crumbly they are slightly dry while still being somehow moist. It's an odd consistency, but it isn't at all off-putting. I imagine it's this weird property that allows them to be non thirst provoking.
While these would be great for any emergency bag - and we're getting more for our home and vehicles - I'd highly recommend them for anyone who frequently goes out on the water. The shelf life, coast guard rating, and the fact that they don't make you thirsty after eating them make them perfectly suited for an ocean ditch bag.
Also added 6 days worth of mini datrex water pouches, signal mirror, good knife, paracord, sleeping pouch, poncho, signal panel, waterproof tablet/writing instrument, small fishing kit, small first aid kit, flares and some old fluorescein I got from my father.

Amazing value.

The price for a months worth of these is about $70 dollars, whereas a months worth of MREs costs $330. They take up far less space than MREs, taste better than a cold entree right out of the bag, and are quicker to prepare and eat in an emergency. Even if these things tasted like garbage i would still recommend them, simply because for the price you can have four times as big of a survival food supply for the same amount of money. They may not be individually wrapped, but the package is resealable so its no big deal. Ill be buying lots more of these.
