Pork Sausage Patty maple flavored

Folks pretend you are very hungry and you find these in a emergency situation, not sitting at a five star rated place and trying to compare them a dinner's serving. These keep for a very long time, forget what they look like coming out of the pouch, heat and serve THEY ARE HARD TO BEAT PERIOD. Feed the hunger, or sit there and starve what part of that do you not get.

The patty is rectangular in shape and reminds me of the meat loaf patty in a TV dinner. Same texture, too.
That said, the taste wasn't bad - just not a lot of taste at all aside from the added maple flavor. I didn't find the maple flavor to be to strong, but the patty needed more sausage flavor.
I think I'd go for the sausage TVP or freeze dried sausage crumbles to make with scrambled eggs.

I even tried warming it up on a skillet with some butter and sauteed onions. I had to give it to the dog. At least we have some dog treats now.

Not for me

The folks who say this has a "hint" of male, or "mild" maple, or are not "too" sweet, must really like very sweet, very maple tasting sausage. There is nothing wrong with this product if you like like REALLY sweet, STRONGLY maple flavored sausage. I know people who put maple syrup on their sausage. I'm just not one of them. The texture was OK. But the goop in the can pouch is sort of off putting, so I can understand the cat food comment, it has congealed fat and maple syrup goo that's unappealing at best. But this is probably a good protein source. But I would stick with the gravy with sausage crumbles instead, as it's much more savory and spicy.

{Response from Emergency Essentials - Thanks for the review Clint. It brings up a good point on fats. MRE's that are higher in calories and fats are much more appetizing when served hot and sausage is definitely one of those foods. Fats turn solid at room temperature and are much less appetizing - although still edible of course. You are right on about protein - about 14 g per package. Thanks again for your feedback.}

What a Surprise!

These were delicious! I'm trying numerous items in an effort to choose tasty items for my earthquake prep.
I was really pleasantly surprised by these - if I didn't know better, I would say these were from the freezer case at the supermarket (you know - the breakfast sausages that come pre-cooked and you just heat and eat....) They have a mild maple flavor but are not too sweet. Really Delish!!

Cat Food

It looks and smells like cat food. My daughter took one look at it, shook her head, and took off running! Small children will sooner starve than eat something that they do not consider food, so I will not be ordering any more of this.

Awesome flavour

Great sausage patty with a hint of maple. None of the MRE flavour that is typical. Even my wife who is very picky liked it.

Very good

Very good product to keep on hand. My son never leaves for a backpacking trip without them. The patties are in a maple syrup so he can pour that into his hot cereal or use on pancakes.
