    Excellent

The Mountain House beef stroganoff is by far the best freeze dried meal available. I love it, and so do my three finicky kids. It looks like sharper924 had a bad experience -- maybe they got a bad batch or something (it happens) -- but the kids and I love the full flavor of this meal. It is true that a little sour cream makes it even better, but it's great right out of the packaging too.

stroganoff, not as good as hoped

Our family ate the stroganoff from the can version, and were disappointed in the bland flavor. We added lots of sour cream and a little ketchup for some tang, and liked it better, but I am sorry I bought several cans. I like the idea of buying the pouch version of an item and trying it before trusting an item to taste good to you.

    better than expected

I am just getting into long term storage supplies and have never eaten any of these products before. I told my husband we would try a 4 person package just to see if it is eatable before ordering more. He was not looking forward to this "dinner" (we are foodies and he thought he'd be eating "army rations" for dinner.) His first bite was, "it's not bad" and before you know it he ate two servings. So he gave it a thumbs up and was pleasantly surprised. On the other hand it is not my homemade version of the same dish, so I wouldn't give it 5 stars. I suppose many would give it 5 stars and it may be that in the storage food category but since this is my first taste of such food I give it a 4 based on comparison to home cooked food. In an emergency you would be very happy to have this meal. A note on serving size estimation: We had the 4 person package and there was only a half serving left with two of us eating dinner. So unless you eat like a bird I would day it is more like 3 servings.
