Top of the Line Compass
The ones we purchase are very well made.
You get a lot of Bling for money. I've seen these top of the line compass's go for, anywhere between, $20.00 to $50.00. It has all the bells & whistles of a top notch compass. You can do some serious orienteering with this compass & feel confident it's giving you as accurate reading as any GPS. This has no battery to go dead on you out in the middle of no where. So it's a very good back-up when the GPS stops working. It's just as technical as a GPS so one needs to learn how to use all it's bells & Whistles. It's not a toy & needs to be handled as any good technical tool at your disposal. As for suggestions for learning courses. The B.S.A.'s Orienteering course for the boys is an excellent beginning. Then any one who is or knows how to do surveys can teach the rest. Well that's our in-put & hope it helps.
