Great Strawberries

These are great. You have to put this in perspective. They are not fresh berries they are freeze dried. They do come back to plump if you soak them in water for a few minutes. I like to snack on them dry. They are like a sweet chip treat. They are great mixed in with granola. They are not perfectly red, they get a bit muted in color from the process but not bad. I've bought several cans and loved them and will buy more. They keep for weeks in the can covered after opening in my experience.

Just Great

I am new to freeze dried foods, and have been pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor or the different items I have tried. These freeze dried strawberry slices are no exception. The can is extremely light, and it was almost completely to the lid with the berries. Taste and texture were great. There was a little bit of strawberry "dust", but not that much. I will just add it to smoothies.

Sliced strawberries

We love them! We use them in cereal or just eat as a snack!

Posted on 9/10/13 by Libby

Well we have a couple of these in our fledgling pantry. We ordered this on just to try one. I expected the can to be half full of powder and yummy bits. I was wrong. It was full within an inch or two of the top and it is SUPER YUMMY. Special Ks strawberries are much like these so you have a reference. Big pieces that make your mouth water as you secretly keep a piece in your check (I wont tell). A full can, big pieces, great taste, a life as long as the can. Or if you open them and no one is looking or you have kids their shelf life is doomed. We are buying more. Lord knows, if we really really need them the taste of fruit will be a treat. 100% of your vit C too.

Taste Great!

I was very happy with the strawberries, even though (due to shipping, I'm sure) about 1/3 of the can was strawberry "dust". I used the dust in smoothies, and it was great. The strawberry pieces were flavorful, colorful, and we ate most of them straight from the can. A few did make it into cereal which made a great addition.

Smack & Pucker

These are really great but boy are they tangie. My mom likes them in her cereal. I have rehydrated them but you have to put plenty of sugar on them to make them sweet enough to put on shortcake.

Delicious right out of the can. Wonderful snack!

Posted on 3/29/11 by Debbie

Wonderful for everyday

Purchased one #10 can to try. I put them in smaller containers for my grandchildren to snack on and I put them in their oatmeal. My little food critics loved them! I immediately ordered 12 more cans for my food storage. I rehydrated them in fruit juice, thickened it,and made fruit syrup for the pancakes. Lots of possibilities, want to try strawberry bread next.

Great Berries!

Ordered 1 can and my grandchildren loved them! Just ordered 12 more cans. These are great for snacking and I put them in oatmeal and cold cereal for them. Haven't tried to cook with them yet.

Creative ideas for FD strawberries

Ok, so my co-workers' post-zombie-apocalypse-survival-food jokes notwithstanding, I'm quickly becoming a 'pro' with these freeze dried #10 cans. My favorite so far is the strawberry slices. Yes, it's good in cereal and just as a snack. It's also great in smoothies (blend with kefir). But the thing i like it for best is actually putting it into a gallon glass jar of filtered water and letting it sit in the fridge for a day. I call it, creatively, 'strawberry water'. It's fantastic. And I agree with the other reviewer: these don't rehydrate well- rather they end up like strawberry compote for putting on sundaes or something. another con: lots of 'strawberry powder' at the bottom of the can. I call it the 'fruit graveyard'. Again, you can put the remains into water and you'll have a nice treat.

Good in Muffins

As others have said, these are good in cereal. But my family has also had success with these by rehydrating and using them in muffins or waffles. (Not on top--cooked in.) In muffins, I add a little more sugar, as the berries are slightly tart. The kids love them!

These totally took us by surprise!!! They are super sweet, crisp, and large in size. Everyone loved them, including my 3 year old grandson who eats them like candy. Will always have these on hand in our home!

Better if you don't try to rehydrate

I tried to rehydrate these and found that the color just leaves them and they are rather tasteless. It took awhile to figure out that the best way to eat them is right out of the can or on cereal - in which case they are super yummy!

Very Good!

I bought two cans about 1 year ago and just opened one of them. These were really very good! Even though I read all the other reviews listed here before I bought them, I was surprised how good they tasted right out of the can. We ate them for dessert; I re-hydrated and used them in strawberry shortcake. I will definitely be buying more!

fruit favorite

We live in the heart of the winter strawberry capital of the world, so I was reluctant to try these strawberries. But these berries are great. Now I can have great tasting berries anytime. Also, as a healthy snack for my granddaughter, they can't be beat. One problem though, no one wants to stop eating them once they start.

tried the strawberries for the first time. Wow, these berries are great. the taste is amazing and addictive. I will order more soon. The variety of uses is amazing. don't be afraid to try them. Now, I'm looking forward to trying other fruit varieties.

Great for Strawberry Lemonade

These are great for making strawberry lemonade. Just drop a big handfull into a pitcher of lemonade and give them a little bit to soften up. Yummy!

The Best!

I have now tried5 different brands of freeze dried strawberries looking for the best. This is it! The fruit is of excellent quality, taste and texture. My grandkids love these! I'll only buy Provident Pantry from now on!

An instant success!

I bought this along with a mix of other items to build up my food storage. I was unsure if the kids would like them vs. fresh. They loved them! I run a childcare business and every kid asked for more! Price is hard to swallow, so it will be more of a treat snack rather than well-stocked item for emergencies.

These freeze dried strawberries are very good and rehydrate very well. You may find the occasional bruised berry but that would be my only complaint. I just crack that piece off and the rest of the berry is great, this would not stop me from purchasing these again.

We love these

I had never bought freeze dried items before. I was a little leary, so I only ordered one can. When my order came and I opened it, I knew in the first five minutes I was sorry I hadn't ordered more. We use the strawberries often on cereal or just straight out of the can. There are an amazing amount of strawberries in the can and they are large whole slices.

Family Favorite for Years

This has been a favorite of our family for years. Great alone for a snack but even better with cereal.

Posted on 7/31/08 by John

These have become a favorite snack for my 3 year old. She'll eat them right out of the can. They are truly delicious. They also rehydrate quickly for use in smoothies and desserts. HIGHLY recommend them!!

Perfect Strawberries

At first I was a little hesitant, but I so wanted my son to eat healthy! It took about 3 offering to my son, and he was hooked. He thought they were candy and would choose the strawberries over sugar filled candies. I should have ordered more.

freeze dried strawberries

I just received a can of these berries. After opening up the can, I see they look good. The taste was fantastic! Also it was 12 cups. I tried dehydrating strawberries. One flat of berries equals 6 cups. @ $25.00 a flat. Plus the time it took to slice, and lay them out on the trays. The gas to get them, and the 18 hours or so of the dehydrator going, which heated up the house on a hot day. The texture of my berries were hard, and not good looking, and lacks taste. I am ordering more of your Provident Pantry Premium slice strawberries.

Very Good!

I've ordered these several times for our group. They are good in smoothies, cereal, muffins, fruit cocktail and right out of the can.

Super Strawberries

We make a lot of home-made granola and these strawberries give it an extra flavor blast. They are good as a snack by themselves--and when you get to the end of the can and there's some strawberries that have been crushed to powder? Well, those flavor milk quite well. This item is a favorite at our house.

Fat free and so good.

These strawberries are soooo good. I just ordered 12 cans of these. They are great in cereal, or just right out of the can. We have replaced fattening snacks with these. They are crunchy and flavorful. What a great idea! I love the fact that they are so healthy. Fat free and sugar free can only be good for you. Thank you Emergency Essentials. I'll be ordering more soon.

Great Strawberries

We have had these for some time now and we are needing to order more. The best way that we like to use them is with Pancakes for our Saturday Morning Breakfast. They are great when you use them to make a Strawberry Cake too. Top w/whip cream and you have a refreshing dessert.

These are soooo good!

These are soo good. I have ordered them several times with our group order from church and they are crisp, you can eat them right out the can. My 2 year old loves them, great snack. Just like the fruit pieces they sell at Discount stores, these will melt in toddler's mouths without you worrying about them choking. When you add water, they will work lovely in desserts. I also like to put them in my cereal for a healthy breakfast. Thank you for carrying them, I think I am addicted!
