    12 Days of Giveaways--Day 10

On the tenth day of Christmas, Emergency Essentials gave to me . . .

A #10 can of FiredUp! and a Sparkie™ Fire Starter

12 Days of Giveaways--Day 10: Fired Up! and Sparkie Fire starters

Fired Up!:  This fire starter is the perfect addition to your emergency supplies, camping gear, and even BBQ-ing equipment. . . Made of volcanic rock material mixed with wood pellets, Fired Up! is water-repellent and has a 30+ year shelf-life. Two cups of Fired Up! mixed with your tinder (or even by itself) can burn for roughly 5 minutes, enough time to pile on your kindling and fuel. This safe and reliable fuel source is great for lighting campfires or preparing charcoal briquettes. Fired Up! works well with the Volcano Collapsible Stove and the Kelly Kettle.

Sparkie: We are really excited about this brand new fire starter because it’s really unique! For starters, it’s a one-handed fire starter with a retractable flint-based bar and built in carbide striker that can light over 100 fires! Simply press the flint bar down on a flat surface (preferably, next to your tinder) and you’ll generate instant sparks. Secondly, the Sparkie is known for its precision: you can directionally target the sparks to hit your tinder every time. Lastly, it can start a fire in inclement weather. Wind, rain, snow, the Sparkie can light a fire and get you warm fast.

  • 10 Ideas to Make Your Christmas Easier

We elves here at Emergency Essentials have taken it upon ourselves to make sure you have yourself a merry little Christmas. We can’t actually hang your mistletoe for you or attend your office Christmas party in your place, but we do have one or two ideas about how make the season’s festivities even festiver. Ten ideas, to be precise.

    1. Keep your nights merry and bright, and avoid accidents in the dark. Never go caroling without our handy 12 hour Light Stick.

    2. Nothing’s cozier for the holidays than a crackling fire in the fireplace. Make sure you’ve got some fuel and fire starter on hand.

    3. It’s going to snow, and the kids are going to want to be outside. They may or may not remember to put on gloves, but you can stash our Hand, Pocket, and Glove Warmers in their coat pockets.  They’ll thank you for it later.

10 Ideas to Make Your Christmas Easier

    4. Christmas isn’t Christmas without a little Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, and (sniff!) It’s a Wonderful Life. Have you checked your popcorn supply? If you had a Superpail full, you wouldn’t have to.

    5. I don’t know about you, but I have trouble keeping baking supplies on hand during the holidays. And if I have to make one more late-night grocery run, I swear I’m going to mow down a reindeer. Solution: Provident Pantry Whole Egg Powder, Butter Powder, even Imitation Vanilla Powder! Use them for your Christmas baking, and never run low again.

    6. And while we’re on the topic, have you tried the Provident Pantry hot chocolates? My personal recommendation is the Mint Truffle Hot Chocolate with a candy cane stirrer.

    7. In order to make sure Christmas morning isn’t a disappointment, we highly recommend Goal Zero Rechargeable Batteries for all Santa’s toy assembly duties.

    8. Hosting this year? Impress guests with yummy appetizers from your Volcano Dutch Oven. Check out this fun blog for Dutch oven recipes, starting with a Queso Fundido that is making my mouth water as I type this.

10 Ideas to Make Your Christmas Easier

    9. Gingerbread houses are a must. But save your stirring arm and let the Bosch Universal Mixer with Cookie Paddles and Metal Whip Drive handle the dough and the frosting.

    10. Finally, make your holiday shopping a pleasure with easy-peasy Emergency Essentials gift cards. Perfect for everyone on your list, and guaranteed not to wilt, shrivel, or settle during shipping.

Stay safe, have fun, and don’t forget to leave us some figgy pudding!

     12 Days of Giveaways--Day Nine

On the ninth day of Christmas, Emergency Essentials gave to me . . . the gift of communication.

Today’s giveaway item is the Kaito Voyager V1 Dynamo and Solar Shortwave Radio/Flashlight.

12 Days of Giveaways--Day Nine: A Voyager VI Shortwave Radio

The word “dynamo” is a good description for this small but powerful multi-featured radio and flashlight. It accesses both regular AM/FM and shortwave bands to give you a constant stream of weather updates, warnings, and forecasts.

The flashlight has a super-bright LED light with a USB port to power small electronic devices, including most smartphones (it does not power Apple products). The Kaito Voyager has a built-in HD speaker and headphone jack so you can listen to your music or forecasts alone or with your family, friends, and neighbors.

Keep your radio charged using one of four options for powering this radio’s internal battery. These four charging options include:

    • 3 standard AAA batteries
    • Solar power, via a built-in solar panel
    • Through the USB port
    • By hand cranking: one minute of cranking provides fifteen minutes of listening or one hour of light

The value of this 9th Day of Christmas gift is $21.99—unless you’re in a situation where you’ll depend upon it—then it’s priceless! This gift is great for camping, outdoor adventures, or to use in an emergency.

Just take the short quiz below to enter. Remember, you can receive an additional entry if you share today’s giveaway post on your Facebook page. You have until Sunday, December 15 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time to enter this giveaway.
