Ingredients: Cheddar Cheese (Pasteurised Milk, Salt, Culture, Enzyme), Water, Sodium Citrate, Butter (Cream), Salt, Sodium Phosphate, Citric Acid, Nisin (Preservative).
My daughter saw the canned cheese in my pantry and shuddered. Then she made fun of me for spending money on something that "had to be gross". The next time her children were staying with Granny for the day, they had grilled cheese sandwiches made with Bega cheese. They all loved them and ate every bite. Only then did I bring the can out for the kids to see and made sure they remembered the name so they could tell their mom that they wanted Bega grilled cheese sandwiches!

Add this cheese to your pantry!
This is one of the few things my wife and I have actually opened and tried out just to see if we would like it before ordering more. I can honestly say this canned cheese is much better than I thought it would be. It is a natural cream color instead of the orange color we are used to. It has a medium cheddar flavor, and a very firm texture. Goes great on crackers, or mixed into Mac & Cheese, and even makes pretty darn good grilled cheese sandwiches. It should last for for an incredibly long time so I am going to be stocking a case of this at all times from now on. If you like cheese like we do you should stock some too.

You Will Love This Stuff
Although the consistency is like a firmer version of the popular brand processed cheese, this product's flavour is much closer to cheddar or cheshire cheese. If you aren't thrilled with powdered cheese but want milk products in your pantry then get some of these and some canned butter and you will be ready.

I bought this cheese in August to add to my storage because being diabetic, I need to have snacks available. I opened a can and was really surprised and pleased with the taste and texture. We had it on whole grain crackers. I am buying more to add to my pantry and my office snacks.

When I first purchased this cheese from another vendor some years ago, I was VERY disappointed. Not because of the cheese, but because the cans were badly dented. That seller has since stopped carrying Bega, to my sorrow. Recently EE started carrying this cheese, and I had to order TWO DOZEN cans! Only one can was slightly dented, no matter, I've missed it and started eating it! A bit hard to spread on crackers (even at room temperature), you'll have to slice it. Have yet to try it on burgers and grilled cheese, but I'm sure this tasty and well-made cheese will fill the bill well. Am getting paid tomorrow, will send for TWO DOZEN more - provided I can keep it on the shelves!

Really good cheese
This product was purchased to add to my long-term food storage program. The dehydrated shredded cheese and cheese powders are no substitute for real, down-home cheese in my opinion and this seemed to be something to fill that gap. I opened a can after it came and was rather surprised at how tasty it was. Now the texture is more akin to Velveeta, but the taste is very similar to a local cheddar we usually buy. I've eaten it with crackers as a snack and it is wonderful. Even the wife liked it. It's long storage life is a big plus. I bought it when on the group sale a while back and plan on buying some more. I see no reason why it wouldn't melt into a cheese sauce either.

We bought this cheese for food storage, but have used it twice to try it out. First we ate it plain and I have to say that it is delicious! Then, we actually grated it like a hard cheese even though it is semi-soft and used it for the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had in my life. You should try it. It melts nicely. All of our children enjoyed it. Nice change of pace for a food storage plan.

Quality cheese free of artificial bovine hormones
I recently moved a case of this cheese out of my food storage where it has been for the past two years and have eaten several cans. While this is not like an aged cheddar it is still excellent. I like the idea that Australia like many European countries does not allow rBST or rBGH to be given to their cows so this cheese is superior in quality to most available in the USA. The cows are grass fed the way nature intended and this cheese, available for half a century now, tastes good as well. I have recommended this to all I know.

I bought my first case of this cheese two years ago because it did not need refrigeration and I have never given it any until opening the cans. It is excellent and no more expensive than the organic cheese that I usually buy, free of artificial bovine hormones that are common in most cheeses here but illegal in most countries, including Australia, where this comes from. The size is ideal for a small family. I researched the company before I bought it and while not exactly a gourmet aged cheese it is certainly far superior to any processed cheese I have ever tried. I will buy more.

I like this semi-soft cheese, it has a nice not-overly-processed cheese flavor, I would compare it to an American cheese. Not spreadable right out of the can, surely heat-and-spread would work. Perfect for picnic, camping, emergencies. I bought mine at the South Jordan store on a lark before flying home, and will be ordering more for sure

Everytime I see a box of crackers, I think of this wonderful cheese. I have not tried it in any other way, but I am sure it will be just awesome. The flavor was perky.

So glad to have on hand
I opened a can of this to try and I was quite impressed. It looks like a white cheddar and tastes a little sharp. That's a good thing because if I have to use cheese in an emergency a sharp flavor will go farther in my dish. The only bad thing is it's too expensive to use on a regular basis. (My dad liked it so much he bought 96 cans for his food storage.)

Yum! Very cheddary
We bought this for food storage and opened a can when I had no cheese for a recipe. It's very tasty! It is softer than cheddar when first opened but has the flavor of white cheddar. Once refrigerated, it firms up more. For topping a baked dish, it was interesting how it melted. It held it's shape and the top very slightly browned, but the cheese underneath was melted and very rich in flavor and texture. I love this stuff!!!

Not too shabby!
Bought a few cans to try, and although it didn't melt the best, it wasn't bad at all! Kind of a valveeta-y smell, but white cheddar taste and a slightly squishy and slightly crumbly texture. (Kind of like those mini cheese wheels with the cow on it) I will definitely buy more for storage, but probably not use it for everyday purposes.

I like this cheese out of the can, but I was really impressed when I put a thin slice in the microwave. It bubbled then turned crisp like a cracker. It made a great snack!

I bought a few cans of this to try out. My husband was skeptical, and even more so when I popped it out of the can and it had the lovely "can lines" like cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving. We had a good laugh and dug in. It is really good! By the time we were done sampling (by itself and with crackers), my husband said "Yeah, that's good stuff to have around. We should order more!" So that's what I'm here to do. The kids (aged 3-11) all really liked it too. I agree with another reviewer who said it would make good mac n' cheese.

If you love cheese, this is the cheese you need to get for now and for long-term food storage. I even have a can in our 72-hour backpack because it's something that will hold you in a tight. It's good on crackers, scrambled in eggs, to make a cheese ball, and even to mix with pepper jelly, or it's good to each right out of the can. A must have if you like cheese.

I was afraid the cheese would have a 'canned smell' but it did not.

It's a keeper
We love cheese in my household and somehow powdered cheese never sounds very good so I decided to try this. When I opened the can I smelled it and thought it smelled like cheddar. We sliced it up and had a taste. It reminds me of a mix between cheddar and swiss. It's soft and moist and really melts!

VERY GOOD YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

We like this cheese
We enjoyed this cheese right out of the can. Tastes more like "American" cheese than cheddar. I will be stocking up!
