Good

As other mention, flavor in MREs sometimes leaves a little to be desired. I found this entrée to be quite flavorful on it's own. I try to pick entrees and such that do not require lots of added flavor to enjoy. Keep things simple. What I did do was cook up a Beef ramen noodle with this. I drank the soup broth down and added the MRE to the noodles. Pretty good!

NOW ALL I NEED IS RICE

As Liz stated above you will not please every one but if you like beef chunks, red bell pepper, water cashews, bamboo shoots & Asian flavoring, then you'll like this. I tried both as is & with red pepper flakes & it was good. As MRE's go flavoring isn't too strong but as you've probably heard on this site, you add flavoring but you can't take it away. Now all I need is some rice. Before I forget none of theses MREs & most of the MRE bundles don't come with MRE Heaters so if you're buying for the first time don't forget to pick some up to cook on the go with out having to start a fire. Otherwise you eat as is or place in some boiling water & your good to go.

MRE Asian Style Beef was pretty good

I was warned that MREs are typically bland & understandably so. You will never please anyone 100% of the time. But I was pleasantly surprised by the Asian Style Beef meal, while bland it was still tasty. First we tried it as is & liked it ok. Then we put red pepper flakes on it & really liked it. This is going in our hiking/camping food rotation for sure. If you need the portability & size of an MRE but want something unusual, I would recommend this. Try it at home & see what spices you might like to add & you'll be good to go.

Additional Info
MRE is the acronym for Meals-Ready-to-Eat. These pouch meals were originally designed for our soldiers in the U.S. Military. These dishes are precooked and can be eaten cold or heated. Great attention goes into developing the recipes for MRE’s.

MREs are compact and convenient. They are also packed in individual triple-layer foil and plastic pouches, so they have a great shelf life. Heat them in the pouch using a pot of boiling water, on the engine block of your car, or on a rock in the sun. Alternatively, you can squeeze the contents out into a bowl or pan and cook over a fire or camp stove. MREs can also be safely eaten cold, right out of the pouch.
