I am really happy with this. Not dry like i expected, it was like the old style hostess Apple pies but with the frosty sugary coating outside. Great filling.

Don't expect a flakey pastry and you will be pleased
Not a turnover type pastry. Typical odd texture slightly chewy MRE bread product. But still a winner. The filling was delicious and it's a very hearty serving at 260 calories. If you want to get on the trail quick in the morning, one of these and a cup of tea or coffee will hold you for a while. Also durable so good in a pack. Will be buying more.

I liked these. I'm trying numerous items in an effort to choose tasty items for my earthquake prep.
The is called a turnover but its really more of a pastry. As soon as you open the package, you can smell the sweetness, the apple, the vanilla - SO good. The pastry/bread part was very tasty and nowhere near the dry crumble I expected. It was just sweet and soft. The filling was a delicious mix of brown sugar and apple (but not apple chunks, more like thick apple mash...). I was very pleasantly surprised.

MRE is the acronym for Meals-Ready-to-Eat. These pouch meals were originally designed for our soldiers in the U.S. Military. These dishes are precooked and can be eaten cold or heated. Great attention goes into developing the recipes for MRE’s.
