Fabulous back up system

I bought these primarily to use for a short (3-day) emergency, such as a power outage. It says 7 day supply, but I plan to use it as a 3-day supply for two people (with the extra meal going to my always-hungry husband!). Everything arrived as described and I'm happy with the variety. Heaters would be nice but they're really not essential, and I'm thrilled with this price.

These came packaged in a plastic bag, which made it very easy for me to keep them together and not lose the little candies and peanut butter packets. Would be easy to pack in a car if evacuating or camping.

Great MRE'S!

Your not paying for the extra stuff like the accessory pouch. Those things you can just pick up for free at MC Donald's. The MRE heaters would be nice to have but I'm not to picky if my food is cold. Besides there are other ways to heat your food if you want your meal to be warm. They can be great for camping and backpacking because they are lightweight and there slim so they fit great in a backpack. I like the $6.00 flat rate shipping!! Thought the food tasted great.

Awesome for weekend backpacking trips in the mountains

I got this in a few weeks ago and took it with me for a three day backpacking trip. The meals tasted a lot better than most MRE's and the bread/cakes were soft and were really good. The only thing this set was missing were heaters but, I don't really mess with them anyway when I'm on the trail so it wasn't a big deal. All together a very good deal for the money.

Eat on the go

Use the MREs for a three day camping-fishing trip where most of the time it was raining. The MREs could be heated easily and quickly. Breads hit the spot, everything worked great.

Decent value for the money

The first thing I noticed was that the date codes appeared to show some of the items manufactured in '06. Still, they have a lot of shelf life left in them. It was a good variety of flavors, and for the money I paid it was a good deal.

Additional Info
MRE is the acronym for Meals-Ready-to-Eat. These pouch meals were originally designed for our soldiers in the U.S. Military. These dishes are precooked and can be eaten cold or heated. Great attention goes into developing the recipes for MRE’s.

The long storage life and easy preparation of MREs (Meal Ready to Eat) makes them valuable for emergency storage.

For best flavor and nutrition, keep MREs constantly stored at 70° or lower. Learn more about MRE shelf life with our insight article - MRE Shelf Life, or see a video of our staff eating an MRE that was 23 years old by clicking here.

Easily cook an MRE at home by placing the metalized pouch in a pot of boiling water (unopened), wait a few minutes, pull it out, tear it open at the notched edge, and enjoy.
